Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude: Take a Workation!

Are you tired of the same old ‘covid-induced’ work-from-home day?  Day in, day out looking at the same four walls, same take-out, same walk around the block.  Well, you can change your current ‘latitude’ and head to Trumbull County, midway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh, for an affordable workation. A workation blends the line between remote work and a break from your regular routine.  With so many of us working from home and the winter months upon us, consider some of these Trumbull County gems to set up shop for a few days or weeks!

The Grand Resort

The Grand Resort in Warren, Ohio has just wrapped up a $30 million renovation of their whole property.  Not only will you have a variety of rooms to choose from, including over 30 suites, there is also an indoor pool, tennis courts, golf simulators, and a game room to enjoy.

Staying at the Grand Resort gives you automatic membership to their Club, and those services include a day spa, an outstanding gym, and shuttle service to four other clubs that they own.  They have over 20 dining options, including a new wine cellar and cigar lounge with a store that sells over 50 brands.  And if you need to do a small in-person meeting, they have several small conference rooms that can accommodate social distancing and other responsible health options.

Peter Allen Inn

If the country setting is more your style, escape is closer than you think at the Peter Allen Inn. Located in the serene small town of Kinsman, the Inn provides upscale accommodations along with a beautiful view.

You can grab a coffee at Good Intentions Café or pizza at Pedrone’s just down the street.  They have a tavern and restaurant on site that is a local favorite.  Bring your bike for some country rides, and for experienced kayakers and canoers, you can paddle on the Wild & Scenic River designated Pymatuning Creek.

Old Stone House

The Old Stone House is another intimate rural setting offering optional workstations with a view. The only distractions are buggies and farms. This bed and breakfast is tucked into the fourth largest Amish community in the United States and is ideal for one or more co-workers who wish to meet daily or weekly. Montessori instructors were guests for six weeks to complete their certifications and discourse over an evening fire pit! Contact for details and pricing.

Mansions at Pine Lakes Golf Club

You don’t have to golf to book a historic American mansion experience.  With the season changing to winter, the Penn-Ohio Golf Trail slows down. These landmark mansions can provide your whole family with a change of scenery, giving everyone space to expand for a while.

Each mansion has large gathering spaces, big-screen TVs, pool tables, a kitchen, and all necessities to create a great socially-distanced getaway for family and friends.
