Presented by Sara Hume, Associate Professor and Curator of Kent State University Museum. The 1940s was a tumultuous period in history, and the fashions of the time reflected the upheaval. World War II led to restrictions on what Americans and Europeans could wear because of rationing for civilian populations and uniforms for those who enlisted. It also brought opportunities to American designers. This presentation will cover the limitations placed on fashions as well as the styles that emerged from this period. A One Book/One Community Event.
